Extra Bold

Extra Bold

“Extra Bold” is a collection of reflections, interviews, projects and stories about design, conceived as a “feminist, inclusive, anti-racist and non-binary” guide for designers.

The authors, coming from very different experiences, backgrounds and life paths, enrich the book with a variety of perspectives, overcoming the traditional narratives of mainstream manuals. This diversity not only broadens the understanding of design, but also places fundamental themes such as inclusivity and representation at the center.

The issues addressed are deeply rooted in the context of the United States, where racial and social conflicts are more accentuated and at the center of a wider public debate than in other countries - including ours. However, the lessons of inclusivity, empathy, and social commitment that emerge from these pages have a universal reach.

In the Italian landscape, where issues like these remain fragmented and still little explored, the book represents an invitation to question established practices and paves the way for a more ethical, collaborative and conscious design.

The Rawrview

Designed and written primarily for young designers and students — many of the curators also work in the field of training — the book is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to broaden their professional horizon, recognize biases and privileges and embrace a vision of design as a tool for social change.
