The context

In Italy, access to traditional medicine services is increasingly complex due to endless waiting lists, staff shortages and difficulties in finding a general practitioner.

Faced with these critical issues, the telemedicine is establishing itself as a crucial solution, offering a quick and efficient alternative to guarantee accessible and timely treatment to a population increasingly penalized by the limitations of the public health system.

In this context, the company Medical Vanguard offers a remote medical consultation service through the Mediphonica app, which allows patients to contact a pool of doctors 24/7.

The restyling project stems from the need to improve the patients' user experience and the efficiency of support platform used by doctors, from health management And from administrative department.

The collaboration with Scuola Italiana Design

Avant-Garde Medica has turned to Italian School of Design (SID) for the restyling of its telemedicine app. The project was carried out by third-year students as part of their Master Project.

Guided by Christopher Secolo, as a teacher, the students tested, analyzed and redesigned the experience of using the app and the entire service, with the aim of creating an intuitive, complete digital tool aligned with the needs of the company and, above all, of the patients.

Several concepts have been designed with new features including medication reminders and live chats with the doctor. These solutions, translated into prototypes and tested with real users, have earned the company's appreciation for their effectiveness and originality.

The development of the app

At the end of the Master Project, the Avant-Garde Medica team decided to continue the development of the project together with our Rawr team, at Galileo Visionary District And the Offdigit.

We have supported Avant-Garde Medica in defining project priorities and development timelines and we have developed the new UX and UI of the app, starting from the various concepts created by the students of Scuola Italiana Design.

During the following phases, the app was further refined, through sessions of user testing that involved different types of target users. The multiple interviews and tests carried out have made it possible to validate and improve all the individual functions of the app and to redefine the project's business model: in fact, we have tested multiple types of subscriptions and prices to identify the most convenient solution for the company and customers.

The medical backend

“During the performance, the doctor is 100% focused on the patient and on providing the best indications without making mistakes; he must therefore be able to use the portal without any cognitive effort.”

The software used by doctors by Avant-Garde Medica is a central element of the telemedicine service, designed to support quick and accurate clinical decisions during consultations. This system guides doctors through predefined flows, ensuring a quick service and adequate follow-up for patients, optimizing time and improving the quality of service.

The restyling the backend proved to be essential to integrate the software into a modern and intuitive interface. We have worked closely with the company team to understand medical and technical needs, and with Offdigit to identify the best technical solutions, with the aim of simplifying and making doctors' operations more intuitive.

Among the main interventions, the restyling included the optimization of doctors' workflow, with the introduction of new features that improve efficiency and speed, without compromising the quality of the care provided.
